* 1780 Jun 1 to Sep 11 John served as a Pvt. In additon he was a wagon master employed in removing the public papers and records to safety when Provost advanced toward Charleston. He served as a horseman under Major Wales at Orangeburg from Feb to 8 Apr 1782. He served at Quarter House and Biggin Church and during 1782 was under General Henderson (at Edisto). In additon, he lost a horse, jn, etc. at Sumters Defeat.
