* Jeremiah E. AVERETT enlisted as a Private on 3 May 1862 in Co., F, 5th Infantry Regiment Florida. He was a POW on 5 Jul 1863 at Gettysburg, PA. He was exchanged on 3 Mar 1864 and took the Oath of Allegiance on 23 May 1865 at Madison, FL. He filed for his CSA Pension in 1904, Hamilton Co., FL. #01176.
* In 1830, Twiggs Co., GA Census there was a James AVERETT and a John AVERETT. In 1840 Twiggs Co., GA Census there was a Benjamin F. AVERET and a James Averet. In 1850 Twiggs Co., GA Census, Mary (widow of Benjamin F.) is listed with her family. By 1860 she had relocated family to Hamilton Co., FL and she appears in 1860 Census as Mary Everett. Sometime after the family moved to Hamilton Co.,FL, the spelling of the name AVERETT changed to AVRIETT.
