Documentation:
* Most of the infomation on this family came from the 1860 and 1870 Federal Census records for Missouri Twp., Pike Co., AR. More work needs to be done on this family and the dates and some of the names may not be totally accurate except for Elizabeth Deneshia Cross Lowrey's dates because our family is directly descended from her and we have very good sources for her.

This file was compiled from the Bureau of Land Management land records and includes Homestead and Cash Entry Patents before 1908 for what is now Pike Co, AR.

* On the 1860 Federal Census for Missouri Twp., Pike County, Arkansas Hiram's real estate was valued at $1,000 and his personal wealth at $1,016. On the 1870 Federal Census for Missouri Twp., Pike Co., AR his real estate was valued at $500. and his personal value was $800. His occupation was said to be a farmer. The 1870 census also stated that he was a citizen of the United States.

* 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR, Federal Census.

Notes for BATES, Martha J:
* Her last name and the place and date of her birth came from a family group sheet on file in the LDS Genealogical Records # AF94-100270 by Claudine Watkins. Her year of birth also came from the 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR, Federal Census.

Notes for CROSS, Rhoda F:
* According to the 1870 census, Rhoda could not read or write. Their dwelling number was 116 and the family number was 117 in 1870 in Missouri Twp., Pike Co., AR. On the census she was said to be a housewife. There were probably other children other than the three listed since the 1870 Missouri Twp., Pike Co., AR was the only census checked at this point, 1999. Her sister Elizabeth Deneshia "Lizzie" Cross Lowrey went to live with her sister in Hugo, OK shortly before Lizzie's death. Lizzie was buried in Hugo at the Springs Chapel Cemetery. Lizzie's son Lee Allen told several of his children that his mother had gone to live with his sister in Hugo and that the sister's name was Simpson and that she and her husband owned a drug store in Hugo. We have not been able to prove this up to the current time.
* 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR, Federal Census.

Notes for CROSS, James L:
* This person may not really belong with this family since the only place he has been found is in the LDS record and he was not able to be found on the 1860 and 1870 Pike Co., AR census records. Also the year of his birth is the same as Susanah or Sousan J. Cross. More research needs to be done on this.
* 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR, Federal Census.
* LDS Genealogical Records # 16S8-7JJ

Notes for CROSS, Susanah or Sousan J:
* The spelling of her name is very much in doubt because the 1860 census record was very difficult to read. The name Susanah came from the LDS record.
* 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR, Federal Census.

Notes for CROSS, Martha W:
* 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR Federal Census.
* LDS Genealogical Records # 16S8-QZS

Notes for CROSS, Mary Ann:
* The full date of her birth was from the LDS record.
* 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR, Federal Census.
* LDS Genealogical Records # 16S8-7LX

Notes for CROSS, Matthew C:
* In 1870 Matthew was said to be a farm laborer and was still attending school.
* 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR, Federal Census.
* LDS Genealogical Records # 16S8-QV6

Notes for CROSS, Lydia B.
* 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR, Federal Census.
* LDS Genealogical Records # 16S8-QT0

Notes for CROSS, Hiram Buchanan:
* 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR, Federal Census. LDS Genealogical Records, His age was 3 on the 1860 census but the LDS record has the year of his birth as 1859 but that would not be possible since Elizabeth Deneshia was born that year and as far as we know did not have a twin. I feel that the census is accurate and that would make him born about 1857.

Notes for CROSS, Elizabeth Deneshia:
* Was known as Lizzie by her family and that is the name on her tombstone. She was living in Hugo, Choctaw Co., Oklahoma at the time of her death and is buried at the Springs Chapel Cemetery there. Her husband had died in 1907 in Shohomish Co., Washington and is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Everette, Washington. Her son always said that she was living with her sister's family in Hugo and that the family owned a drug store there. This sister's name was said to be Simpson and Rhoda, her older sister married Thomas J. Simpson so we have assumed this would be the sister she would have been living with at the time of her death but we have been unable to find any proof of this up to this point.
* 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR, Federal Census. Her birth and death dates are on her tombstone. Her full name is from her son, Lee Allen Lowrey's delayed birth certificate from Clark Co., AR.

Notes for CROSS, Thomas:
* 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR, Federal Census.
* LDS Genealogical Records # 16S8-QQC.

Notes for CROSS, Eudora:
* 1860 & 1870 Pike Co., AR, Federal Census.
* LDS Genealogical Records # 16S8-QP5.
