Documentation: The mother of Charles, Elizabeth, had a sister Rebecca
who married a Gibson and her son Jason Gibson was first cousin to
Charles.  Family stories and Bibles have helped us along with census
records and photos that we have collected.  Charles has no headstone and
is buried by his daughter Lillie and her husband, and they have no
headstone, but of course, we believe there are more graves in the woods
behind the church in a very neglected area that I fear stepping into.
Charles helped at the church, and made caskets during the epidemics which
caused a great need, and was a farmer.  He was a short dark man who
raised my mother and our reference notes are

McClain, Bozeman, Broadway families have been traced to the 1700s in the
Carolinas and some settled in Georgia, where the father of Charles had a
previous marriage and children in Georgia.
