This unit was mustered from Athens, Monroe Co., MS in April of 1862.

Columbus Washington "Lum" Coker and Mary Jane Wright
Columbus Cok er was called "Lum" Coker. He married Mary Jane Wright.She was
the daughter of Robert Richard Wright (1803-1880) and Nancy T. Cody
(1805-1896). (See article Robert Richard Wright) They had nine children.
1. Victoria "Pink" Coker married Lon Thompson. They had five children. (1)
Fleta Thompson married a Warren. (2) Hamp Thompson married Hattie Dye. They
had three children. (See Article Hamp Thompson) (3)[ incomplete transcription -
needs to be updated - AMS]
* These three children - 2 girls and a boy - were the first known set
of triplets born in Monroe County, Mississippi, but they did not survive.

MRS. MASSENGILL DIES, SERVICES TO BE TODAY AT 2:00
Funeral services for Mrs. Lee Massengill of Smithville will be held at 2:00
pm Thursday in Bethlehem Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with the
Revs. M. L. Hollis and W. T. Dexter officiating. Burial will be in the
church cemetery. She was 75.
Mrs. Massengill died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Gilmore Memorial Hospital at
Amory. She was a native of Marion County, Ala.
She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Clara Bell Tucker of Aberdeen, Mrs. Marie
Stone of Tremont, Mrs. Jewel Vandiver and Mrs. Elaine Goodwin of Smithville;
three sons, H. C. and L. G. Massengile [sic] of Smithville and C. W.
Massengile of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Myrt Coker of Amory and Hill
Coker of Detroit, Ala.; and a sister, Mrs. Dessie Welch of Bexar, Ala.
